Marimsys Remote Productivity System
These distinctive features of Marimsys and ORBCOMM, make it possible to exercise direct control over a variety of “off comms backbone” activities. We can generate databases of events and related warning signals. For example, monitoring of “work”, “movement between sites” and “motor on – stationary” can be calculated right on the road grader for the emission of a summary daily productivity report. Simultaneously the satellite communicator aboard the mobile is calculating if the mobile remains within its work area; upon leaving that “geo-fenced” area, the satellite communicator begins to emit positions to the Control Center. If the operator has a mechanical problem requiring assistance, he can initiate communications with Control using the Marimsys ORBCOMM system aboard his road grader. All of this occurs in Near Real Time – increasing the productivity of the – now monitored – road grader, and simultaneously creating much closer communications with the Center of Control.
Remote Measurement of Operator Productivity
In the example which follows, a road grader is being monitored; reports and information have been produced for several months to measure the actual work time of the machine during an 8 hour workday.
We are interested in answering direct questions such as:
The use of the machine, how long it was working resurfacing roads?
Idling in one place?
Moving from place to place?
Did the road grader perform unauthorized work?
Is the fuel required for the road grader in line with the work performed?
Answering these questions permit us to reward drivers who operate well without direct supervision. Now we can sanction those operators who for instance, leave the machine idling to increase the number of hours on the hour meter – and thereby justify fuel consumption for fuel which may have gone “astray”; or those operators who drive away from the work area to provide unauthorized services for others.
The system measures the percentage of a “machine and operator” workday which is spent in:
Working resurfacing roads
Stationary with the engine idling
Transiting between sites where work is performed.
And perhaps, events which were not defined as “proper work”
The basic report is sent form the road grader into the Control Center. The reports are unencrypted and written to the open MS SQL database in the control center. The Marimsys Remote Productivity Application then performs analysis on one road grader, or comparative analysis between groups of road graders.

This is a presentation of the data in table form.
The information may also be obtained as a graph of time utilization differentiating each use with a specific color:

This information, serves to maintain constant and more effective check on operations being carried out far from the comms backbone. With our Marimsys solutions, this kind of data can be obtained from mobiles working ANYWHERE on the globe. Control Centers can be located thousands of miles away on any Internet connected computer. Marimsys Productivity is a “Caesar’s Wife” technology based an objective monitoring system which is designed precisely to eliminate the gray areas of “what was done” which can occur with “out of sight” work.
The data is measured uniformly by objective and proprietary Marimsys algorithms
Significant safeguards are present to eliminate the possibility of tampering
The analysis goes straight to the Control system
It seems that the management world begins to agree on the concept, “If it’s not measured, it’s not done”. The Marimsys Remote Productivity system takes that idea, does the remote measurement, transmits the results to the Central Control, and transforms remote productivity.
