Exploratory Bottom Fishing
Going out looking for new fishing grounds, different fish species, or to escape national quotas, is expensive and quite risky. There are big successes, and big losses. Our systems:
makes more information available during shoreside planning to assist in making better destination decisions;
isolates the best areas ahead of time and cut back on area reconnaissance passes;
captures information for high-detail Marimsys chartmaking on the next visit if the same vessel or another fleet vessel returns.
Marimsys Satellite Bathymetry and mGal Charts are a fundamental part of this process. With these charts basic shoreside planning can be done to find likely sites for the expedition. Then the vessel goes directly to the best potential areas without wasting time on low probability areas. When the vessel gets to the area, it already has a basic outline of what the bottom will be like. The capture of all chartmaking data possible, using Marimsys BRIDGE, is important to making Marimsys Charts of the area if the same or another fleet vessel is to return to the same area.
Marimsys BRIDGE is important to compare the various types of cartography that are turned up in the planning stages. This cartography is calibrated with their distinct datum into BRIDGE. Then waypoints or marks are created over particular interesting features on each calibrated chart. Those waypoints can then be looked at over the background of any other chart in the system. This highlights areas of agreement and disagreement between the various charts, and the features on them. The system also serves as a plotter for the actual voyage where the charts loaded into the system in the planning and analysis stage serve as chart backdrops for actual vessel navigation and fishing.
